You don’t need to be airbrushed to be beautiful.

Sometimes I think we just need to take a break…a break from our health and fitness magazines, fashion blogs and the “how-to-be-beautiful” guides, the 10-steps to a more fabulous you, what’s hot to wear, celebrity tweets, and the latest self pop-psych self help tips. Enough with 17-year old size 2 models in VS g-strings making you feel inferior because you’re 27 or 32 and don’t have the body of a teenager anymore. I’ve had it with the push messages that fill our heads with falsehood in the name of looking perfect so you can earn someone’s love and attention.

I think we just need to take an hour, a day, a month
to just shut it all off, close the magazine covers, logout
and purge ourselves of the media messages that scream loudly to our souls:

YOU ARE NOT ENOUGH…HERE’S HOW TO BE MORE!
HERE’S HOW TO BE ACCEPTED.
HERE’S THE SECRET TO BEING YOUNG AND BEAUTIFUL.
HERE’S HOW TO MAKE YOUR MAN LOVE YOU.
HERE’S THE SECRET TO THE LIFE YOU DON’T HAVE.

Want to hear the real secret?

I’ll whisper it to you….

You don’t need it. You don’t need any of it. The media already knows that actually…which is why it has to be pushed so hard to sell it to you.

You are enough…exactly as you are.

»Your life is already full of people who accept you. Who cares about impressing people you don’t know…or trying to make them see how fantastic you are.
»Youth and beauty fade…but a beautiful heart lives forever.
»Your man is with you because he chooses you and chooses to be with you. He doesn’t love you because he has to. He loves you because he wants to. There’s an unfolding flower of beauty in you so if he’s looking he’ll always find more about you to fall in love with.
»Until you’re dead it’s never too late to build the life you want and fill it with the people you want to share it with.

I’m tired being constantly bombarding and told “this is who you are” or “this is who you should be”.

I just want to shout back and say “NO! THIS is who I am” and then go live out loud.
