Hello, I've missed you.
Coming back to a blog temporarily abandoned feels like it needs an apology. Even though it’s my blog and I own it and I highly doubt any of its readers were left with teary, sleepless nights over the fact I haven’t written anything in a while, I still feel the need to say “oops, sorry” like the way we get busy and forget to call a dear friend for a while and need to...

Text convo with my best friend
Amy and I have both spent our weekend sick in bed...in 2 different states. We have talked on the phone with scratchy voices which sound like the impersonation of a 13-year old boy entering puberty. Here's a sneak peak at what 2 girls loopy on cold/flu/sinus medicine sound like:
Me: I feel gross and loathe being sick. Let's fantasize about beautiful, single, Jewish men showing up at our apartments, making us hot soup, giving back rubs and then snuggling until we feel better.
Amy: Oooh! I like the way you think! They must complete the above mentioned tasks shirtless and smelling of Abercrombie and Fitch's "Woods" cologne...

If Emily Post had written a relationship etiquette book you might find some of the things in it you’ll read on 2 awesome blogs I recently came across: Etiquette for a Gentleman Etiquette for a Lady Watch my blog for re-blogs of their quotes! :)

You are worth the time.
If someone truly cares about you and wants to be part of your world and wants you to be part of theirs they will make time for you. Period. Even if at times in less quantity it should always be time with quality. They should extract the nectar of every sweet moment and conversation and chance to hold your hand that they possibly can. Actions always talk louder than words do. All of...

Read Your Own Words
Sometimes it’s good to go back and re-read your own writing and remember where your heart was in the moment you wrote it. Hold on to your own forgotten wisdom. Take your own advice. and best of all… Measure your growth and see how far you’ve come since the day you wrote it. What new nuggets of insight could you have added knowing what you know now?

The Way of the Superior Man
This is the title of the book I’m reading right now. A book written by a man, about men and for men. But I highly recommend it to any woman who wants an inside read on her man & what makes men tick, how they think & how they can learn to love your heart open. I’ve learned so much about myself in reading this book and thought “oh my gosh! A man who completely understands the feminine...

You don't need to be airbrushed to be beautiful.
Sometimes I think we just need to take a break…a break from our health and fitness magazines, fashion blogs and the “how-to-be-beautiful” guides, the 10-steps to a more fabulous you, what’s hot to wear, celebrity tweets, and the latest self pop-psych self help tips. Enough with 17-year old size 2 models in VS g-strings making you feel inferior because you’re 27 or 32...

Blissfully content
There aren’t adequate words to fully wrap around all that I am experiencing at this moment. It deserves mention but will go without description because I’m still taking it in and letting it permeate me entirely. My soul feels vibrantly alive…like a newborn at first breath. All I can say is that at this moment, my heart is completely and utterly at home.

Tonight
I will be the “plus one” guest at an invite-only, exclusive partay and will finally have a reason to dust off my dance shoes for a night of sweet, musical awesomeness. Forget the mainstream KC dance scene I have danced in for the past 5 years. Tonight I will slip under the front entrance rope at a place I’ve never been and will dance the night away. Sore feet tomorrow will...

Own It
Get so comfortable in your own skin that how you carry yourself, the very way you move, breath and speak, evokes and silently demands awe and respect. Attract it. Own it. Deserve it.

A Good Problem
My life at this moment is so full and ripe with possibility, joy, wonder and purpose I can hardly take it in. I have found a deeper love for being in my own skin and a heart so happy just to be who I was created to be that I can’t wrap words around it. I have walked on cloud 9 for three days straight and it’s more than the Starbucks white mocha in the morning. It’s a...

You are Fabulous!
Dear Ladies, I’d like to take this moment to remind you of how awesome you are. You live in a world that sizes you up, checks you out, compares you and critiques you which keeps you tethered between trying to do more to win or earn people’s approval and trying to shield yourself from the rejection of their disapproval. In the myriad of opinionated voices, I’d like to just...

Making Room
Sometimes you just need a good, authentic cry from a place deep enough that only you can feel. You have no words to provide an explanation for why you need the cry. You just do. Sometimes there is a why, and sometimes there isn’t. But it’s okay. It’s your cry to be had and no one else’s. It’s not a cry to get attention or another’s sympathy. It...

Goal-ward Bound
I have a goal. A mission. A quest. A promise I’ve made to myself. And I will keep it. My goal will take me a few months to reach but a lifetime to maintain. I’m devoting myself to being the healthiest version of me. I am building a lifestyle and constructing habits that produce results. I feel fantastic! I’m energized, motivated and determined to nail the mark and...

I joined Twitter.
Once upon a time, a long time ago (but still in this galaxy…so not so far away) I used to have a Twitter account. Then I went on a social media purge (which I highly recommend doing for a while. It was fantastic…and at a time in my life when I truly needed to just unplug from everything for a bit and just re-connect with the organic-ness of life) I have ever so slowly rejoined...

Love Surges
Sometimes I have these exhilarating moments I affectionately call “love surges”. They are moments where I just feel a flood (or surge) of love and appreciation for the people in my life and wish I could scoop them all up into one giant group hug and somehow find the words in that moment to tell each of them how much they mean to me and how much I value them and am thankful to have...

Yay! My First 5K
In about 9 hours, I’ll be wearing this number and standing in line with my Mom to begin our first 5K. I should be fast asleep right now but excitement and a little caffeine I had earlier this afternoon have me all kinds of awake at the moment. I just keep eying what I’m wearing to the race tomorrow and can’t wait to get out there at sunrise and feel the cool air on my...

Leadercast Highlights
I spent my day getting fueled up, fired up and massively inspired at the Chick-fil-A Leadercast. I choose trust.
Trust and fear cannot co-exist. Where one stands tall, the other cowers. And where one prevails, the other fades into shadows. To overcome our fears we all know we have to face them. But sometimes that doesn’t feel like enough. I’ll venture a step further. I believe we face them when we choose to trust beyond them. Trust breaks through the walls of the fear box that build up...

Gold Coins
The text message notification on my Android, according to my brother, sounds just like the part on the Super Mario Bros game where Mario jumps up and nabs those gold coins and gets points as he progresses through the game. So now when someone sends me a text my brother laughs and says “Woo! Mario just got new coins”. Well in real life, I think when we jump hurdles, face...

I think it's important...
I think it’s important to tell people in your life how much you like them…as in genuinely just digging who they are as a person and feeling happy that they are part of your life and you’re part of theirs. It’s great to tell our nearest and dearest that we love them but I think it’s good to tell everyone else in your life when you LIKE them. Make someone in your...

Typography Junkie
I love fonts. It’s like I have a wannabe graphic designer trapped inside just itching to get out on paper. I’ve spent the past hour downloading new fonts and I’m kicking my heels together with glee just waiting for a writing assignment or an excuse to type someone a letter just so I can use them. My nerdy side officially just leaked out.
